I received a phone call saying I won a sweepstakes?

Reply:Hi. This says it all. http://www.ftc.gov/os/2000/05/duralube.d...
Reply:Most definitely this is a scam .. do not give them any information , your address or any other thing about you . If you have a no call center in the state you live in contact them , I'm sure that the number is not listed on your caller ID or it is private or something .. No one gives money away except your grandmother at Christmas so beware .. report this to your phone company too ..oh and another thing if you get any calls like that .. that may ask you to push a number for their menu DONT it could be you have just allowed them to use your phone for long distance calls over sea's .. bottom line is .. if its too good to be true most likely its not hang up and if they don't take no for an answer hang up anyway if they call back tell them you have recorded this call and will be contacting your phone company
Reply:I got a call like that except it was Movie Gallery who called saying i had won a free movie rental. So i went to Movie Gallery and they gave me the free movie
Reply:they are just lying
Reply:sorry sweetie. anytime a company wants you to send them money, it's a scam. just remember to think if you didn't enter a drawing or sweepstakes, why are they calling you? just be careful not to give them any of your information like your credit card # or social security or anything like that.
Reply:It is definitely a scam. I get all kinds of calls and mail like that. Just ignore it.
Reply:There is a Co. called American Direct. But what it is is you pay them $2000 and they guarentee you will save that much on home purchases like furniture, windows ,siding etc, etc. the first year if ya spend at least $5000 and if not they give you back your $2000.They send you a key to see if it will start a new vehicle (of course no ones' does) They are suppose to get you factory direct prices but it takes a couple weeks to get the quote. At no time was I told I won a sweepstakes and send them money. I went to the showroom they had located here in Cinci. So ,what you are describing is a well known scam people of West Africa (Lagos I think) are running on people here in the USA
Reply:It's a scam!

No one requires an insurance payment on a legitimate sweepstakes winning... trust me! That's how they make money off from hundreds of suckers... then they disappear!
Reply:Imagine this...

You have won a Billion Dollars. All you have to do is pay a one time transfering fee of $2000.00. We'll transfer the funds as soon as we recieve your money. :)

SCAM. I saw a news report on people who actually sent money for something similar to American Direct. Some folks never grew out of the SHORT YELLOW BUS.
Reply:Run away. It's a way for them to get your money. TANSTAAFL!
Reply:if they want you to send money its a scam
Reply:bro they are a scam...dun ever believe these things because they pick ur name randomly from some place...its like they by ur name from credit card companies or something
Reply:put it this way hun if its too good to be true it probably is. and if it cost you up front moneys i have 2 things to say it shouldn't cost you money to win millions or even thousands why don't they just deduct any fees from the winnings, 2nd if they ask any personal info you could have that info sold for someone elses profit ex. they have a name they have a valid phone number and mabey an address too all is easy info to get on the net with just a name and general location you get my drift here, and did you ever sing up for any sweepstakes from them if you did they will want more than you may be able to give ex: taxes state and federal they have many ways to get you to send money to them do the math if they send out 500,000 of those letters and ask for 20 dollars processing fees = 0 for you and 1,000,000.00 for them thats only 500,000 they send more than millions woildn't you.a sucker born every second
Reply:Why would they need you to send money, why wouldn't they just take it out of what you won.
Reply:Hang UP
Reply:i got that call too. i had herd that they where a scam from my mother. so i told them to go to H E double hockey sticks! lmao. what ever you do do not send them any money
