Are e-mail lottery sweepstakes lagitimate, genuine and legal?
I am a retired Police Officer and have answered many of the scam questions on this site. I will do the same for you from my experience of investigating Internet fraud for many years. Publishing Clearing House is the only legitimate type lottery that uses the Internet I am aware of and at that they will dun you to death with "offers" from their advertisers. The U.K., Australian and other Football Lotteries, Lotteries that just appear on your email like Free Lotto and Global-Link and Global Lottery, Yahoo, Microsoft and a thousand others are Nigerian scams. The rule to remember with lotteries is that lotteries work by you buying a ticket, if you didn't where would their funds come from for the pot to disperse the winnings. You must pay to play. The Nigerians have thousands of Internet cafes where this criminal low life sit and scam people all day and night. I have found that in most of these Nigerian lottery scams you find very good clues to it being a scam with their spelling. In many of them they do not spell words correctly. The common thread of them getting your email are on line surveys like "Get Paid To Take Surveys" These companies sell your information to others and do not check to whom they are selling them to.
