What is the minimum amount of money (Sweepstakes) that would make you happy and free?

Minimum...? Assuming we're talking lump-sum payout (all the money at once) and taxes covered....

$750,000.

--That would be $600,000 spread out over 6 Five Year Treasury Notes that pay interest out twice a year, guaranteeing me a solid monthly income so long as I maintained the investments. At minimum we'd be talking an income of some $2,000 a month....

--Then $50,000 would have to go to pay all of my debts...at least for the current year, and yes, that would include student loans (though maybe not all of the interest and fees *and fees OF fees*).

--Then I'd have $100,000 left over to tide me over through the year until the investments start earning interest. It doesn't sound like much until you realize that this has to cover *everything* and at full price (essentially I'd have to pay full costs because of the money). I might just make it. o_O

Hope this helps. This really wouldn't be greedy of me, the major part of it is in securing the income whether I had steady work or not....and to make sure it's enough that I would not be *poor* anymore.

Thanks for your time! ^_^ Yep, I've given this one way too much though. *lol*

Thanks for the Best Answer. ^_^ The irony of it is....I wouldn't need *so* much money to generate the interest-based income if rates were higher. But if rates were higher, my odds of getting that kind of cash would go from slim to less than zero. You can't win, you know? *lol* Report Abuse

Reply:id like £30,000 to see me through uni.

plus, £2000 for a trip to new york.

and £2000 for a trip back to russia.

and then another £1000 to finish driving lessons.

and then another £10,000 for a car and insurance and tax.

and then probably £400,000 for a house when im out of uni.

and another £10,000 for those little things haha.

so about £450,000
Reply:about $250,000 (US). I could put it all in a savings account and get a nice interest on it, and even split it in half and put half in a great interest CD, and use the interest each month to live off of. $250,000 @ 3.00% per month, would be about $7,500 per month, which is equal to about 90K a year, which currently I live off of 40K/yr so that would be great. Even 125K in the savings account would be enough to cover what I make a year. I'd sit back and relax and enjoy the time with my family and pay off all the bills, and do things that I never got to do before. I'd be able to do things for my son, and build a house or buy a house sooner, and plus I'd be able to do things for family and others that I wouldn't be able to do otherwise. I'd love to have that financial backing to be able to live without having to worry if my job is going to be cut, or if I get sick or my wife gets sick, if we'll be able to stay afloat long enough for either of us to get well again.
Reply:Money is not the key to happiness although it is fun to spend. I am happy with my life and grateful for what I have and we do not have a lot of money, but we are comfortable.
Reply:Let's see, I managed to spend $100,000 in one day

so lets go for 1 Million.

After taxes that would leave about $500K.

That way I could get a house with no payment

and leave some to pay the yearly taxes and insurance on it.
Reply:I could deal with a few hundred grand. Just to pay off my bills and buy a chunk of land up north to camp on. That's all I really need.
Reply:seeing that i owe the bank eighty

then i have to pay the credit off- on hundred.

i would be fine with two hundred dollars.
Reply:I would like to win at least 4 million after taxes, so I could live a modest American lifestyle and be able to help people out.
Reply:Probably like 2 million would make me free as in I never have to earn more money in my life.

I am already happy- I don't need any money to make me happy! :)
Reply:no amount, if i am not happy or at peace poor, i will not be happy or at peace with money. that has to come from within.
Reply:Would have to be at least 2 million (tax free) before I or most people could be free of anything - including their jobs these days.
Reply:Enough money to pay off my student loans would be nice, so I don't have to worry about them while I finish school. That's the only money I worry much about.
Reply:$$$$$$$$$$ :) $$$$$$$$$$$
