Reply:Santana has yet to declare for free agency, so there's a good chance he'll get re-signed. The Twins can be a contender next year which is what Santana wants, along with a little more money of course.

Reply:This is just plain retarded on behalf of Twins managment. They should have locked Santana up last year to avoid having to deal with a possible bidding war after 2008.
Reply:The Yankees (as I've said in a previous question) need a lefty to protect the short porch. I surmise they will not let this opportunity go by. Ian Kennedy, Melky Cabrera, and a minor league player (or 2) will most likely be the deal. BUT only if they are able to sign him to an extension. He's a free agent after next year, and no one wants a rent-a-player for that price.
Reply:Said that the Yanks and Sox have the prospects to probably make this work. Imagine a staff of Beckett, Santana, Schilling, Dice-K and it could be a little leaguer for all of the wins that those 4 will give you.

No, there isn't a "sweepstakes" here...I agree that Santana is going to remain in Minnesota at least through next year.
Reply:None, as the Twins are not trading him this offseason. They are trying to get the city to help them build a new ballpark, and if they trade their best player away, that would kill the stadium deal. Guaranteed that he will be a Twin in 08!!!
