Can sweepstakes be singular?

I think .... "Sweepstakes begins" is singular


and


"sweepstakes begin" is plural.....





is that right?

Can sweepstakes be singular?
The word 'Sweepstakes' is PLURAL in Funcrtion





but in construction, it can be either Sweepstake' or 'sweepstakes'





So 'Sweepstakes begin' is the right form.
