My Wife won a $50,000 in a Charitable Sweepstakes-do I have right to ask for my share even if we're separated?

Are you legally separated? Did she register for this sweepstakes before or after your separation?

My Wife won a $50,000 in a Charitable Sweepstakes-do I have right to ask for my share even if we're separated?
What gives you the impression you have or even deserve a share?
Reply:No you a**.
Reply:Don't be a loser. You aren't sharing a bed, friendship, or even partnership anymore. What makes you think you should share winnings? I guess if she lost $12,000 gambling you would be willing to pay half of her debt... right?
Reply:Depends on the state...

In washington, once you are legally separated, you are no longer accountable for you stbx's debts. I would imagine that also applies to windfalls as well.

However, if she had entered this drawing prior to the separation, it would seem right that you get your fair share.
Reply:I have never heard of a charitable sweepstakes that wasn't a scam so dont start counting money yet
Reply:First of all don't count your chickens until the money is in the bank!! These "charitable sweepstakes" are mostly scams. I've won 4 this week.
Reply:hahaha.. you just answered your own question.. your SEPERATED, forget it
Reply:did your separated money help buy the ticket ?? What a jerk !!
Reply:Your wife won the money; you didn't. You are not part of her household now. Why do you think you have a share?
Reply:That might depend on your juristiction. If you are still legally married, then likely your assets are joint.
Reply:Apart from the legalities of your rights - ask yourself this question?

If the situation was reversed would you want to give your seperated wife her share?

Now - answer it truthfully - would ya?? - Enough said!!
Reply:50-50, if your separated and not divorced your still entitled to half of what she has of course granted if you have been married for more than 10 yrs.
Reply:Most likely, yes. You're still legally married, so your assets should still be considered joint. Talk to a lawyer.
Reply:if you are still legally married and depending on the lenght of the seperation you might be entitled to half
Reply:Personally, I wouldn't because there is a reason why you are separated and if she really wanted you to have some of the money, you wouldn't be asking this question?
Reply:If you are legaly seprated, then you more than likely have no rights to this money at all. Sorry.
Reply:You shouldn't expect anything from her, that is why you separate....you live separate life, so does she. Leave her alone, you would've hadn't she won. That makes you look pitiful asking for winnings you had nothing to do with.
