Yes I do and it is a scam and you want to stay far away especially now that the justice Department is going after all gambling sites whether ornot located in the U.S.A. or not .

Anyone ever hear of a Queengate Lottery Sweepstakes?

No, I've never heard of it.

Is there an ongoing microsoft and AOL sweepstakes going on?

This is a SCAM, it resurfaces once in a while but it is a Hoax,

General rule of thumb, if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.

This sounds like a great deal and all, But what are my chances of taking it? and do you think its a scam?

Black Flipped Inc Sweepstakes?
This is a SCAM. Check out the below link for confirmation of various scams, including the famous Yahoo/MSN lottery scams and how to report them.

http://www.consumerfraudreporting.org/lo...

Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Just remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace, hopefully along with the thieving scumbags who send them.

You receive an unsolicited email, which states that you have won a major prize in an international lottery. Supposedly, your email address was collected online and attached to a random number that was subsequently entered in a draw for the lottery. In order to claim your prize, you are instructed to contact the official "agent" in charge of your case. You are also advised to keep the win confidential for "security reasons". This part of the scam is basically a random phishing expedition. If you respond in any way to the email, the scammers will send further messages or even contact you by phone in an attempt to draw you deeper into the scam.

You may be asked to provide banking details, a large amount of personal information, and copies of your driver's licence and passport. Ostensibly, these requests are to prove your identity and facilitate the transfer of your winnings. However, if you comply with these requests, the scammers will have enough information to steal your identity.

Sooner or later, the scammers will request some sort of advance fee supposedly to cover administration, legal or delivery costs. At its core, this scam is just a reworking of the Nigerian loan fraud, in which scammers also eventually ask for upfront fees to facilitate the "deal". Like Nigerian scams, victims who do actually pay the requested fees will probably find that they receive continuing payment demands to cover "unexpected expenses". The requests for money will go on until the victim realizes what is happening or has no further money to send.

In some cases, the scammers give victims the option of opening an account at a particular bank as an alternative to paying upfront fees. However, this "bank" which is completely bogus, will insist on an initial deposit of $3000 as a requirement for opening the account. The fake bank will have a legitimate looking website to reinforce the scam. In other cases, the victim is given the option of travelling to an overseas destination and paying a cash fee to facilitate the release of the funds. However, any "winnings" released to the victim will be counterfeit and therefore worthless.

The details of the lottery scams vary regularly with regard to the name of the lottery itself, the country of origin, the sponsoring organization, the amount of the "prize" and other particulars. The scammers try to add a patina of legitimacy to their claims by mentioning real financial institutions, government departments or well-known companies. They may also provide links to slick looking, but fraudulent websites that are designed to back up information included in the scam emails. If the scammers are successful in establishing a dialogue with a potential victim, they may provide "proof" such as a scanned image of a supposed government official's ID and even photographs of the "winnings" in cash.

Reply:This is a scam. Why would someone send an unsolicited check for a contest in Canada? There is ZERO chance of you making money, and if you pursue this you run a real risk of loosing money and having to live with the shame of falling for such a ridiculous ploy. Throw the letter out, or forward it to your states attorney general, nothing good can come of it.

Are department store sweepstakes for real?

They always ask you on ur receipt to go online and fill out a survey to be entered into the sweepstakes to win hundreds or sometimes thousands of dollars. Or maybe a vacation. Know anyone who has ever won?

Why is it that old people are always the winner o the Publisher's Clearance House sweepstakes?

Not only is it always old people, they always look like they already have money. At least enough not to be struggling. My theory is Ed is afraid to walk into a neighborhood where people really need the money with that check. When they draw a winner they probly look into it and see if its a part of town they feel comfortable in.

Why is it that old people are always the winner o the Publisher's Clearance House sweepstakes?
I think it's because they actually take the time and enter consistently,to win you have to enter and keep up with all the crap that goes along with PCH and they take the time to do all of it.They probably buy lots of magazines too.
Reply:they are the only people that enter them.

Sweepstakes Entries-How can we get companies to only ask for age or age range instead of exact d.o.b.?

The reason that they want D.O.B is so they can look up your information. I used to work at the Sears Call Center in Canada, and to have people sign up for a Sears Card, we needed either their Social Insurance Number - which most people won't give. But by getting their birthdate, Sears Canada could look up their Social Insurance Number - which with that they can access all your information. I don't give out my birthdate any longer, I use fake ones for things that aren't my bank or government related.

Is there anything we can do about scam artist who prey on elderly with there sweepstakes scams?

i think this is a shame and would like to know if there is anything i can do to protect my in laws and other people.

Is there anything we can do about scam artist who prey on elderly with there sweepstakes scams?
You cannot save every sucker from him/herself. But bankers could be more careful about wiring money to Nigeria. It's amazing how many bankers ask no questions when victims of scam artists ask to wire $1 million, more or less, to an unknown account in a Lagos bank.
Reply:I'd say look it up. Fraud in general has some stiff penalties. If you are ineterested further, look into starting a VSI to strengthen those penalties. It's doubtful you can do much for preventing it in the first place, sadly.
Reply:YOu can contact www.dma.com to get them off the mailing lists and restrict the amount of mail they get.

The problem is that the elderly cannot be dissuaded that these mailing are just a scam.

My father-in-law is convinved he has won money, when he has won nothing, but you can;t tell him otherwise
Reply:If you are in the UK, then try contacting your local trading standards department. The citizens advice bureau may be able to help too. It may also be worth speaking to your local police station, to see if they know of this person.
Reply:Warn them. Teach them about caller ID. Check their mail for them. Don't let them check their own email without teaching them about spam.
Reply:no.. just make sure they tell you when they hear about it.
Reply:Yes, as soon as you catch one - fix him in such a way he will never do it again (do you understand me ?)

Reply:Hi. This says it all. http://www.ftc.gov/os/2000/05/duralube.d...
Reply:Most definitely this is a scam .. do not give them any information , your address or any other thing about you . If you have a no call center in the state you live in contact them , I'm sure that the number is not listed on your caller ID or it is private or something .. No one gives money away except your grandmother at Christmas so beware .. report this to your phone company too ..oh and another thing if you get any calls like that .. that may ask you to push a number for their menu DONT it could be you have just allowed them to use your phone for long distance calls over sea's .. bottom line is .. if its too good to be true most likely its not hang up and if they don't take no for an answer hang up anyway if they call back tell them you have recorded this call and will be contacting your phone company
Reply:I got a call like that except it was Movie Gallery who called saying i had won a free movie rental. So i went to Movie Gallery and they gave me the free movie

Reply:It is definitely a scam. I get all kinds of calls and mail like that. Just ignore it.
Reply:There is a Co. called American Direct. But what it is is you pay them $2000 and they guarentee you will save that much on home purchases like furniture, windows ,siding etc, etc. the first year if ya spend at least $5000 and if not they give you back your $2000.They send you a key to see if it will start a new vehicle (of course no ones' does) They are suppose to get you factory direct prices but it takes a couple weeks to get the quote. At no time was I told I won a sweepstakes and send them money. I went to the showroom they had located here in Cinci. So ,what you are describing is a well known scam people of West Africa (Lagos I think) are running on people here in the USA
Reply:It's a scam!

No one requires an insurance payment on a legitimate sweepstakes winning... trust me! That's how they make money off from hundreds of suckers... then they disappear!

Reply:put it this way hun if its too good to be true it probably is. and if it cost you up front moneys i have 2 things to say it shouldn't cost you money to win millions or even thousands why don't they just deduct any fees from the winnings, 2nd if they ask any personal info you could have that info sold for someone elses profit ex. they have a name they have a valid phone number and mabey an address too all is easy info to get on the net with just a name and general location you get my drift here, and did you ever sing up for any sweepstakes from them if you did they will want more than you may be able to give ex: taxes state and federal they have many ways to get you to send money to them do the math if they send out 500,000 of those letters and ask for 20 dollars processing fees = 0 for you and 1,000,000.00 for them thats only 500,000 they send more than millions woildn't you.a sucker born every second
Reply:Why would they need you to send money, why wouldn't they just take it out of what you won.
Reply:Hang UP
Reply:i got that call too. i had herd that they where a scam from my mother. so i told them to go to H E double hockey sticks! lmao. what ever you do do not send them any money

Is there a UK national lottery,on line sweepstakes international program?

i reaceved a email saying i have won 750 000pounds as and contact a a European agent and it looks like one of the scame letters i saw on in the scame mails from the UK lottery site

Is there a UK national lottery,on line sweepstakes international program?
Fraudulent (Scam) Emails – what to do first

Lottery scam (fraudulent) emails are increasing at an alarming rate.

Scam emails try to persuade the email receiver to submit personal information or to part with money as an up front payment in order to release a winning lottery prize.

As a general rule, if you have not purchased a ticket for the UK National Lottery, you won’t have won a prize, and you should treat the email with absolute caution.

The following points are some things to look for in order to identify a fraudulent email:

* If the email says ‘Winning Notification’ or ‘Lottery Sweep Stake’ in the text, the email you’ve received is not from UK National Lottery;

* We don’t tell players how much they've won in an email; and

* We don’t ask for any Player information like name, address or bank details on an email.

Can somebody tell me if prizes of Sweepstakes Clearinghouse are real.?
You lost. If you have to purchase or pay anything for any prize you are not winning but are being asked to make a purchase. You never have to pay for something you win. It is a scam. Re-read what you've written here and think on it.

How much can i improve online banner clickthrough rates by including a sweepstakes or instant win offer?

Once i had an amazing clickthrough rate for a telco banner promising a win, you were supposed to click the banner when it changed colour. Text said "click when the cat gets green, and win" of course you didn't win (it was impossible to catch the green cat) but you were redirected to the actual contest.

On the other hand these mechanisms might get boring after a while. A smart headline planned in the right place might work better.

Or even better a campaign not necessarily based on banners but on community, word of mouth through the web and so on...

How much can i improve online banner clickthrough rates by including a sweepstakes or instant win offer?
banner click throughs are not as good as content based ads. Anything free will obviously catch someones eyes, but I think also adding interesting colors and images can help too.

I keep getting these popups for adult websites and one for sweepstakes how do i stop them?
enable pop-up blocker from browser
Reply:just get pop-up blocker!
Reply:If this is what I think it is then a pop-up blocker is NOT going to stop it. It depends on the situation.

If you only get the pop-ups when you are browing websites then a pop-up blocker in your browser will stop them.

If you are getting the pop-ups when you are not browsing websites then these are messages being sent using the Microsoft Messenger Service (Note - this is not the same as MSN messenger!).

Read this article and follow it's advise -

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using...
Reply:have you tried running Microsoft Spy-Ware program. I recommend you do that. Before running the program you might want to clear out your Internet History, delete your cookies and clear out your temp folder which all of theses steps are located in your Internet Options. Once you have done that install Windows Defender from Microsoft.

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...

Just click on that link there which will send you directly to there. You might want to make sure also you have the latest virus definitions also, and have the latest windows updates. I suggest you run the spy-ware program in safe mode since there isnt alot of processes running that are bind to any programs which will get rid of anything faster if it doesnt run in safe mode disable all the startup programs from your computer and run the program all over again and make sure your not connected to the internet so nothing tries to access the net as you run the programs.
Reply:Stop going to adult websites, other things can be downloaded because of it. Download adaware form download.com and run once a week. Download Firefox it has a pop-up blocker built in..
Reply:You need to install some anti-spyware, anti-virus and firewall software on your pc and run some scans.

You can get a whole range of free programs to download at the Computer Active web site as well as security tips and forums.
Reply:You need to download and run a Spyware Remover and Antivirus program on your computer.

A pop-up blocker only takes care of the symptoms not the cause fo the problem. So you need to have these utilities installed and running on your computer alll the time to cure and prevent this problem.
Reply:install a pop up blocker or a gud parental control program like tuegales antiporn
Reply:Your PC is infected with spyware or adware trojan!

Just run this online spyware scan %26amp; upon detection, search for the removal instruction of the relevant spyware/adware..

Check out: http://www.trendmicro.com/spyware-scan/
Reply:There are free pop-up stoppers that either come as part of your web browser package or can be downloaded. Try putting "pop-up stopper" in your search engine %26amp; see what you come up with. You might also want to check out the major anti-virus websites for more information...they often have tools for not only antivirus, but anti-spyware, which is what a lot of those popups are.
Reply:You need a pop-up blocker and spy-ware remover. Try trekblue.com. They have a good one.
Reply:popup blocker
Reply:Get fire wall,
Reply:first of all run spyware and adware removers, then switch to another browser like firefox, it has integrated a powerful popup blocker plus a whole lot of neat features and extensions.
Reply:you didn't need to put that in there! lol Download Yahoo! Toolbar and the pop-up-blocker should stop them! Hope this helps!!!!

I received a Sweepstakes letter from Churchill Sweepstakes Prize Inc.?

The address of the "company" is 48 Oxford Ave, Mile End London, GU8 6UK. Out of curiousity -- is this address and post code even real?

I received a Sweepstakes letter from Churchill Sweepstakes Prize Inc.?
That'd be spam, then..... Mile end post codes are 'E' (I used to work there - GU is Guildford.....

post code is in Godalming

Reply:Doubtful... If you search for UK postal codes, you'll see the format is different. The GU8 6UK is in a Canadian format. See the link below looking up address you gave:

(adding the 'Mile End' comes up with an error so I dont know about that part).

In other words, no, its most likely spam mail, disregard it...

Reply:I don't think this address can be real as the gu8 is part of the post code for guildford which is in surrey.

I would like to hear from anyone who heard about "American Sweepstakes" calling from Ontario Canada.

Has anyone out there been contacted or heard from an "American Sweepstakes" who claims to have a legal dept. in N.J. but is really calling on the phone from area 416 which is located in Ontario?? Would love to get input on this. I reported my incident to the local Police Chief and my report is on record. They claimed I entered a sweepstakes in Mar.'06 and had won $340,000. I told them I never entered any sweepstakes and requested a mailing address for their organization or brochure at which time the caller hung up on me. I have caller i.d. and still have the number. I was contacted by them approximately 3 weeks ago around April 27.

I would like to hear from anyone who heard about "American Sweepstakes" calling from Ontario Canada.
you should report them. its fraud
Reply:It is a complete ripoff. They would have tried to get banking and other personal information from you. Contact your local law enforcement agency as well as your state Attorneys General Office.

Does anyone enter sweepstakes and contests regularly like me?

Any tips on winning? Any frustrations? Tell me if you won anything! My most recent win (10/13) was from Shape.com: A basket of Mrs. Meyers Clean Day cleaning products (retails at about $40 and was a one time entry)!! My biggest win was my FIRST win way back in 1991. It was a Winston grand prize to drive a funny car or a stock car but I took the 1800 in cash :) After that I was hooked! What's your story?

Does anyone enter sweepstakes and contests regularly like me?
I enter on line contests for one hour every day. I have won 250 dollars, a 50 dollar grocery gift certificate, a cellphone with three months unlimited usage, autographed pics of various celebs, a spa gift certificate, a hundred dollar visa gift card, a basketball jersey, a 500 dollar custom wig (that I will never use, hopefully), free product coupons, itunes, etc.

I got hooked when I was little. I would buy raffle tickets from my grandma and her friends and would win something once a month. The only prize I remember from back then is a set of cookware valued at 500 dollars that my mom got.

The only tip I have is search the Internet for freebie sites that have contest lists, and read the rules. Some contests are one entry only and if you enter again you void the first entry. Lately I seen to have the most luck with the instant win contests where you enter daily. I almost forgot, last week I won a stop watch, a pair of hiking boots and a bicycle. I am waiting on them to come.

Good luck and have fun.
Reply:I enter them all the time. I haven't won anything yet except 10.00 for surveyspot.com. I'm always looking for contest or freebies..I'm so hooked also
Reply:I used to enter anything I could, but I never won anything so I pretty much gave up.

My brother in law won a boat from Albertson's grocery store a few years back, it was one that you filled out the paper at the store and could enter as many times as you wanted, so he took the whole little "book" of papers home, filled them all out and then took them back and entered them all in the little box. It worked for him!
Reply:No sweepstakes... just McDonald's Monopoly.

Any sweepstakes for next year's All-Star Game?

I truly want to be at Yankee Stadium in '08 to see one more game at the House that Ruth Built. Nothing better than an All-Star Game for that. Therefore, I want to know of every contest available that can give me that chance.

Any sweepstakes for next year's All-Star Game?
I'm sure there are plenty of options to pick from. If you live in NY, I would advise over the next year you listen to every radio and tv contest they offer.

As of from MLB itself, I know during the playoffs last year they had a Fantasy Survivor contest on MLB.com. Each day of the playoffs you were asked to pick one winner from the entire day, if you were wrong, you were eliminated. If you were right, you moved on until there was only one person left standing. The winner got a free trip to SF for this year's game.

I played and came within 250 people before I lost.

Gawd, if your question was coherent, it might mean you think Microsoft and AOL have launched a lottery or sweepstakes, or somehow plan to give you a lot of free money. This is a newer variation on the old scam of getting free money from something you didn't enter. This is spam mail, and belongs in spam. I hope you didn't answer it!?!?!

Do you think anyone ever wins those Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards Sweepstakes?

My friend has been trying forever, calling in and such, and now he can type on the phone so fast, he can type the 1-800 number in wat seems like less than a second. But then all he gets is that the number is busy. Do you think anyone ever wins it or does Nick just do it for fun/prank?

Do you think anyone ever wins those Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards Sweepstakes?
Someone probably wins, but there are hundreds of millions of kids in the world. Tens of millions that watch Nickelodeon. If someone did win it, you wouldn't know about it because they'd probably be across the country.
Reply:One out of millions wins, so your friend is going to have to try harder.
Reply:i know for a fact that they have to pick someone so i think they just pick out of random who calls. but the fruit rollup ones that say you win 10,000 dollars is a scam because i once bought a box that every single said you won 10,000 dolars and we didnt get any money.

How can i verify a sweepstakes award "first installment" check?
THE BANK SHOULD BE ABLE TO VERIFY WHETHER THE CHEQUE IS VALID OR IF THAT BANK IS REAL.

BEST BET IS TO READ THE FINE PRINT ON THE CHEQUE AND OTHER DOCUMENTS,

LOOK FOR ANYTHING THAT MAY SUGGEST OTHERWISE.
Reply:It is most likely fraud. Did you enter a sweepstake???? I didn't think so. I am a bank manager and see this all the time. If you deposit the check it will be returned. and if you sent the "processing fee" you will be out of the money. Why would you need to pay a processing fee to collect a sweepstake prize. Why would they just take it out of the funds that they sent you.

Trust me it is fraud.

Fraud sweepstakes money express?

Fraud sweepstakes money express?

HI,

Today I got a mail letter saying that I won a big amount of money, therefore I needed to send $28.50 so they could send me the big amount of money! Can I sue this people for what their doing? I mean, just imagine all the people who get this same letter and send 28.50 everyday, I cant believe it! Let me know what you think.

Fraud sweepstakes money express?
I received the same letter from

Sweepstakes Money Express

9101 West Sahara, #105 PMB 600

Las Vegas, NV 89117.

I've posted the address because I am curious if they move around and have used other addresses. Does anybody know?

I read the language carefully. The letter reads that you are paying to secure entries to win (not receive) an amount from $612,444.89 up to $1M. The language is sufficiently ambiguous that it appears you are paying to enter a sweepstakes--no real guarantee of any winnings to my eye.

The text on the back of the letter advises that you may submit without making payment of "premium incentive". In which case you must use your own envelope and not the prepaid return envelope that they sent. I missed the part that explains what the "premium incentive" is.

If I actually won then they should just deduct $28.50 from the winnings. Am I wrong?

I'm considering reporting this to the US Post Office. Mail fraud is a federal offense. The USPS has the responsibility for investigating these kinds of schemes. You might do the same.
Reply:I don't think you can sue anyone for that, but you can alert the authorities.

Good on you for being savvy enough to pick that as a scam. Thousands of people get scammed out of money with these 'advance fee' ripoffs.

I don't know where you are, but I would look for a financial services regulation organisation, or a consumer protection organisation, and let them know, so they can inform others.

Best wishes

Did I really win this sweepstakes?

Today I received a letter in the mail that seems very legit. It is addressed to me and it says:

Dear Lucky Winner,

This is to inform you that a lump sum amount of $215,000.00 has been deposited into our bank by the international Lottery cooperation as your sweepstakes prize. Enclosed is a check of $4400.00 as your first payment.

Your prize can be transferred to your bank account electronically or sent to your address as a certified check. Please contact your claim agent and specify how you want to receive the balance of your prize.

You are required to contact your claim agent before depositing the check in order to register and activate your claim.

**

It gives the number to the claim agent and says the time they're open. They gave me a claim number as well.

Also, there is a check for $4,400.00. It seems authentic, no void written on it.

The letter is from Liberty Investments INC in Ontario, Canada. I have entered many contests. Could this be real?

Did I really win this sweepstakes?
First off, you do have a least a ounce of common sense, (otherwise you would have sent the money). What I mean is ask yourself these questions. Did I enter this contest? If not, how did they come to get my name? Why would they send me a check and not the full amount if this is legit? Why would I need to contact anyone? Something sounds too good to be true, so it isnt. What happens when you contact this agent and most are african. They will tell you to deposit the (phoney) check in your acct. Then in order to pay for the handling of your claim, you will need get (a legit) cashiers check issued from your bank. While you are so anxious to get this done to receive all this money. You send it b e f o r e their phoney check has a chance to clear the banking system. So while you dream about what you are going to do with all these thousands you are believing to receive because you have done what was asked of you, the bank is getting ready to deliver a bombshell to your door, via mail. That the check did not clear and you are liable for all the fees and the face amt of the check. Thank God my mom did no do her usual and be gulable, she gave me her "secret" and told me about it. Well I checked the bank which suposedly issued the check and was told by them that there is no such number. Then I checked with the clearing house that handles the check. They said they do not know the establishment but just handle their acct. These agents are not locatable. The addresses do not exist. I had them from Spain, Amsterdam and Australia. Each is an african who is the agent. You can tell by their voices.

So when you get those letters, you can forward them on to the FTC or just check them with the web site on the bottom.

Don't forget if it sounds too good to be true it probablely...
Reply:If you're in States and the add on the check shows ontario, that's a Big hint it's a scam...

I believe most sweet stakes are within us if you play in us right?
Reply:It's a scam. They had a lady on some talk show recently that got taken by one of these very legit sounding Lottery Scams. One HUGE scam allert is: you should NEVER have to give out your bank account info, ever! And you should never have to give them money to get the money they claim is yours. Don't get scamed!

By the time that check reaches your bank they'll already have you whiped out, then they're check will bounce. And a lot of the time there's nothing you can do about it once it's been done.

PS. Sodexho Inc is a food service corporation out of Gathersburg MD. Not what they claim in your letter.
Reply:Is there a number on the letter? If so, call the bank abnd ask them things about the contest.

Also, never give them your Credit Card number/SSN, etc. That'd be bad.
Reply:sorry, it is a scam.
Reply:You didnt win anything. Throw it away-delete it, whatever.

Here is the key. They want you to give them your bank account number so they can deposit your winnings into your account.

You give them your number, they clean your account out-every dime you own.

If its too good to be true-it is.
Reply:what happens is you cash the check , then they tell you later that you need 3500 or something to process the rest of the money. so, you send the 3500 to them, they disappear without a trace and your stuck paying back your bank for the bounced check.

the best thing to remember when recognizing a scam is if you didn't enter a lottery or sweepstakes and get a check that says you won. its fake!

also most of these types of scams are foreign.

never give personal info over the phone , social security, bank acct. #'s and such, if someone asks for that info , yep!its a scam.
Reply:bin it!! if u were gonna get that much money the would have at least had ur name on it! if it was that much money it wouldnt have even come in the post!!sum1 wud have arrived at ur door to congragulate u!! is the call line really expensive?if so thats how they usually make there money! dont get screwed like i did!! think first!
Reply:It doesn't smell good to me. It seems that if you won something legitimate that it would have the name of the sweepstakes in the letter not just a blanket term. I would definitely advise you to proceed with caution, and whatever you do, DO NOT give the so-called claim agent any personal information such as a bank account number, mother's maiden name, social security number, etc. Do an Internet search for Liberty Investments INC and see if it is a legitimate institution. Please be careful!!!!
Reply:You could use a quick lesson in scams right now before you get into trouble. I also received several legit looking checks (high tech security features) and correspondence of big money wins. I typed scams in google and spent many hours looking this. Everyone is trying to get your money; not give it to you.

#1 Foreign lotteries are illegal

#2 You are responsible for any monies from these scams. Make sure it is a sure win

#3 The scams are designed to get to your money via information and bank account numbers, names and addresses and SS#s.

Do your homework and you will be surpised. Also type lottories in search engine,. MSNBC (hotmail) has info in their dateline reports. The government has info. Many people are falling for the promise of big bucks and loosing everything. be careful, nothing is free. good luck

What is the name of the song from the Pepsi Free Ride Sweepstakes Commercial?

It's the commercial where the guy is standing on the street hill and the giant pepsi ball hits him and sends him rolling down the hill with it... and the song goes like, "ohhh-weeee-ooooh-oooooh!" then more lyrics that I can't really make out.... the entire song is really fast paced.... and I remember there was a forign version of it on the movie "Euro Trip" when they're driving on the map made out of stuff on the table at their resturant.... I've always wanted to know what the song was.

What is the name of the song from the Pepsi Free Ride Sweepstakes Commercial?
The Pepsi commercial uses "Ca Plane Pour Moi" covered by The Presidents of the United States of America

The Plastic Bertrand version was used in Eurotrip.
Reply:That song is called "Ca Plane Pour Moi" by Plastic Bertrand. It was a remake of sorts, had the same backing track as the song "Jet Boy Jet Girl" by Elton Motello.

Both songs came out around '78.

I received a letter and a check from rainbow investment group %26amp; sweepstakes lottery inc stating that the check
Why would an investment group team up with a lottery / sweepstakes company and start randomly giving large sums of money away? What's in it for them?

Here's how the scam works. You cash the check you take some or all of the money and you send it to them. They then keep your money and you never hear from them again. Next, the check they gave you bounces and you get hit with a bounce fee and the bank takes all the money back. So now you are out the bounce fee and the money you sent to them.

It is a very common scam these days. You didn't win any money, and the letter/email you got is completely bogus.
Reply:i would take it to a lawyer before i cash it and have him check it out. i'm sure it is some kind of scam.

Think about it.. Here in the US.. If anyone wins anything even near a million.. Its all over the newspapers and TV...

There probley going to try and steal your identity or after you fill out Payment Processing.. There going to say please send us (about) $5,000 for the taxes and processing fees...

So, I wouldn't do anything but, just ignore them.. Or write back and say.. Send me the money and I'll send you the info back once I received it..

They will never answer you back.. and I would try and call you Internet provider and tell them about it...

Good luck with everything and let us know what happens...

Does anyone know a good website for real sweepstakes with real winners? Many of these sites are full of scams.

If anyone has actually won something from an online sweepstakes, where did you enter or where did you find good leads??

Does anyone know a good website for real sweepstakes with real winners? Many of these sites are full of scams.
Most of them are cons, because no one is going to give you money and free stuff for doing nothing. That's what working is for.

But the best shot you have would be to enter sweepstakes that you see advertised on TV. Like ones that game shows and other TV shows have to keep you interested. Deal or No Deal used to have that $10,000 giveaway etc. At least with it being on national TV you know it's less likely to be a scam.

Reply:I'm sorry to have to say it, but that is unfortunately a scam. Lotteries don't contact you when you win - you have to match your numbers to their list of winning numbers. If you don't come forward to claim your win, they don't award the money. Most of the time, they don't even ask for your contact information.

Has anyone every actually won sweepstakes form publishers clearing house?
This is a SCAM. The below links confirm various email scams hitting the internet, including the famous Yahoo/MSN lottery scams. There is also an online form for the reporting of such. (with links for your own country.)

http://www.consumerfraudreporting.org/sw...

http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/or...

Please remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace, hopefully along with the thieving scumbags who send them.

I only know of one paid survey that pays me cash on the spot. All others I have to wait till i reached a certain amount or points. Sweepstakes surveys are a joke, i don't even waste my time answering them.

Are there really any paid surveys out there that pay cash and not by points and sweepstakes?
Pinecone research pays cash for surveys...however they are hard to join..you have to find a banner ad somewhere to sign up they don't accept applications from their website...and finding a banner ad is not a guarentee you will be accepted by them.

I have a friend that does Inbox Dollars and she said she gets cash from that

hits4pay gives you cash for looking at ads 30 seconds each
Reply:Try this site http://www.cashforsurveys.co.uk/quick_in... ell you which sites pay in cash and which in vouchers or prizes, pretty handy!

Reply:There are several Paid survey company exist online which you can join to get involved in part time activities. These companies offer you cash or prizes in exchange of your valuable time which you spend for giving your opinions.

Some companies seek opinion or preferences of general people about their new launching product to improve their product outcome.

For the same purpose company may do itself or may hire some companies which undertake such kind of surveys. Off course these companies are going to be benefited by these opinions.

Reply:Many people these days are making money online with paid surveys. I have found that these paid surveys are especially suitable for students. Since many students are living with a tight%26lt;!--budget the several hundred dollars that can be made monthly is a big help and the flexibility of taking paid surveys online is a big plus for students as well. To join these companies, you dont need a credit card and the best part is that you dont need to pay anything. Its FREE.

These are three of the top reasons that paid surveys are so well suited to students. Students spend a good--%26gt;part of their time online already. Paid survey sites place a premium on users between the ages of 13-25 3. Most students can benefit from the extra money earned with paid surveys

I think its the best paid survey site out there. Its 100% free and legitimate. Have fun :]
Reply:I've been a member of Mindfield for several years now. You accumulate dollars in an account, and can ask for a check anytime, even if there's only $2.00 in it.

In addition, Mindfield has intelligent surveys and interesting questions. You may not qualify for all the surveys, but the links come through your email and are usually very straightforward.

I'd recommend them to anyone!

Lottery winning american sweepstakes lottery woodland security INC?

Lottery winning american sweepstakes lottery woodland security INC?
If you have received anything telling you that you have won a lottery which you personally haven't entered then it is a scam to get money from you...you would probably become a victim of identity theft as well.

Stay well clear of it.

When will they give out the prizes for the teen vogue WIN IT sweepstakes?

also, will they be sending the prizes through mail?

When will they give out the prizes for the teen vogue WIN IT sweepstakes?
I was wondering the same. I go on a sweepstakes forum and nobody mentioned the fact that they won any teen vogue wins so I hope that means they haven't sent them out yet. I entered so many times too haha
Reply:If you mean the ones in June then I read on the official rules a while ago that winners would be notified on or around July 10. I think they would email the winners, then have them confirm their info before they send prizes out. If they just haven't notified winners yet, which I'm hoping, then good luck!!

Has any one ever heard of Capital One Services Inc... I recieved 4800.00 from them in a sweepstakes drawing?

I just dont know if this is legit

Has any one ever heard of Capital One Services Inc... I recieved 4800.00 from them in a sweepstakes drawing?
If all you got was the check and they have asked nothing further from you then I would say have fun with the $4,800. But if they contact you back and say that the $4,800 was a mistake, or that you have to pay them to cover the taxes on it, then it's a scam.
Reply:Did you buy a ticket to a sweepstake? No. So why would you EVER imagine a company would out of the blue give you money? Ask yourself, what's in it for them? Answer - nothing!

Of course this type of thing is a scam. Use your reasoning power - did you ever get a free lunch in life?
Reply:it isnt...ignore it.

Reply:Sounds wrong to me. Did you enter a sweepstakes?
Reply:This is a very common scam that's going around right now. That check is fraudulent. When you deposit it, they ask you to wire them money for taxes or service fees. A few days later, the check bounces, you are out the money you wired them, and you are liable to the bank for depositing a fraudulent check.

For more information, see: http://contests.about.com/od/conttestsca...
Reply:Unfortunately, there is a TON of fraud out there. If you received money from a company you never heard of or a sweepstakes you never entered, BE WARY.

If you have questions, talk to your bank. They have the technology to verify the check. They will probably make a few phone calls to the alleged issuing bank. They may even ask you to deposit the check, then place an extended hold on it while it goes through the system. Your bank cares for your financial welfare and will take measures to make sure you're not a victim of fraud.
Reply:Id say its a scam, have you got a CC with them or a bank account??

Sub: Sweepstakes Audit Bureau, it is fruad, they need to be dealt with.?

Sorry , I thought this was a question that everyone was responding to. These letters are sent with the intent of extorting money claiming folks are winners. 12 M in funds and each person may have a piece of it. For a fee ($5.00) five dollars they will research to see.

Sub: Sweepstakes Audit Bureau, it is fruad, they need to be dealt with.?
Any time you get a notice of winning a sweepstakes that you did not enter it is a FRAUD.~
Reply:Of course, it is fraud.

The issue is where the mail comes from. If you are in the US, our agencies don't always have the authority or jurisdiction for things that might originate in Nigeria, etc. It is the internet.. and it is not limited to US law.

If someone wins the lottery or sweepstakes, why would they choose...?

Why would they choose the larger lump sum over periodic payouts?

For example, in a recent contest, the winner can choose between a lump sum payout of approximately $3.7 million or yearly payouts of $250,000 equaling a total of $7.3 million. Why would anyone choose less money?

If someone wins the lottery or sweepstakes, why would they choose...?
I would chose probably payout depends on the amount of money involved. If it was less than 2 million I'd chose payout all in one sum. If it was more than yearly I could live great on it for the rest of my life.
Reply:There are companies that will buyout a an annual payment plan for an amount higher than the lump sum and lower than the total annual payments. In your above example, the company would pay $6 million to the contest winner. It would benefit both; The company would make $1.3 million (over time) while the contest winner will receive $2.3 million more than the lump sum.

To answer your question: In your example above, it would take about 30 years to receive $7.3 million and about 15 years to receive $3.7 million. If a person is 50+ years old, I don't think they'd want to wait long to receive/enjoy their money. A younger person may choose the annual payments. A friend told me they'd choose the annual payments to they don't spend it all at once.

Another aspect: The value (or purchasing power) of cash decreases with time. Basically, you can purchase more with $3.7 million in 2008 than you can with $3.7 million in 2023. With this in mind, you can invest part of that $3.7 million in 2008 and have far more than the $7.3 million in 2038.

I hope this gives you some insight.
Reply:i think that if they do payouts and something was to happen to them, the money couldnt go to anyone not even their family,so they would be losing out.

Is this legal for someone to send out this T Rowe Price sweepstakes winner notfication?

Recently entering a lot of sweepstakes, getting a ton of e-mail saying I've won.How do I know whats bogus?

Were they sweepstakes from a well-known company like Nestle or Whirlpool? Unfortunately most of the sweepstakes online are scams. Please do not give them any of your personal information. If they ask for you bank account, credit card number, social security number, et cetera, then it is definitely a scam, and they just want to rip you off. If you've given out your email address in a lot of different places, you might even have to get a new one because of the amount of spam you'll receive.

Recently entering a lot of sweepstakes, getting a ton of e-mail saying I've won.How do I know whats bogus?
Did you keep track of what sweepstakes you've entered? If you get an email that requires you to submit too much personal info, it's probably a scam. You can also request more information about the company and official rules from the sender of email. Check with better buiseness bureau to check on the company.

Reply:Scam operators — often based in Canada — are using the telephone and direct mail to entice U.S. consumers to buy chances in high-stakes foreign lotteries from as far away as Australia and Europe. These lottery solicitations violate U.S. law, which prohibits the cross-border sale or purchase of lottery tickets by phone or mail.

Still, federal law enforcement authorities are intercepting and destroying millions of foreign lottery mailings sent or delivered by the truckload into the U.S. And consumers, lured by prospects of instant wealth, are responding to the solicitations that do get through — to the tune of $120 million a year, according to the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, says most promotions for foreign lotteries are likely to be phony. Many scam operators don’t even buy the promised lottery tickets. Others buy some tickets, but keep the “winnings” for themselves. In addition, lottery hustlers use victims’ bank account numbers to make unauthorized withdrawals or their credit card numbers to run up additional charges.

The FTC has these words of caution for consumers who are thinking about responding to a foreign lottery:

* If you play a foreign lottery — through the mail or over the telephone — you’re violating federal law.

* There are no secret systems for winning foreign lotteries. Your chances of winning more than the cost of your tickets are slim to none.

* If you purchase one foreign lottery ticket, expect many more bogus offers for lottery or investment “opportunities.” Your name will be placed on “sucker lists” that fraudulent telemarketers buy and sell.

* Keep your credit card and bank account numbers to yourself. Scam artists often ask for them during an unsolicited sales pitch.

The bottom line, according to the FTC: Ignore all mail and phone solicitations for foreign lottery promotions. If you receive what looks like lottery material from a foreign country, give it to your local postmaster.

The FTC works for the consumer to prevent fraudulent, deceptive and unfair business practices in the marketplace and to provide information to help consumers spot, stop, and avoid them. To file a complaint or to get free information on consumer issues, visit www.ftc.gov or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); TTY: 1-866-653-4261. The FTC enters Internet, telemarketing, identity theft, and other fraud-related complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure, online database available to hundreds of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad.

The only message worth opening is the one from your valued friend.

(You can't buy any of them)
Reply:If you read the fine print, they probably say You've won ... if you have the right number, or something like that
Reply:It's all bogus. Those companies just collect your personal information and then sell it to mailing lists and telemarketers.
Reply:A friend of mine has been doing these contest over ten years and is really sucked into it. Everybody is telling her to stop but she thinks that she's gonna win some day. I truly believe its all a hoxe. Before you soak in hundreds of dollars, think twice. I can't tell you what to do, only to hope you make the right desission, and good luck... Dr Checko... (Nickname)
Reply:I think they are all bogus they all want something in return , they ask you to at least feel out a credit card application from their sponsers and so forth. If you must fill out sweepstakes I'd stick to Publishers Clearing House but I myself am a sceptic of all of them.
Reply:it's 90% bogus... but you can take a look at this site from time to time : http://www.snopes.com/snopes.asp
Reply:They are all bogus!
Reply:Ask yourself: "Did I enter into this sweepstake?"
Reply:if you really did win something you would have gotten a phone call i would disregard the emails and put them under spam emails. that way you do not get more of these emails saying that you won thing when you didn't win a thing. i use to do the same thing and enter to win stuff on the net and it told me the same thing that i won stuff i just needed to fill out a form and it would be mine, when really they were taking me for a loop so the best thing i can say is do not believe these emails because they are not true. if you think it is not real then 90% of the time it is not. so don't get your hops up on things and remember if you really did win they will call you.

No, bother if you spend that 1.50, that'll boost my winning, you go for it.
Reply:no. more than likely if it sounds too good to be true it IS.

D Wade out for the season, is this the next step in the Michael Beasly sweepstakes?

That is their likely goal, but Basketball Karma has a way of screwing over teams who do that. just ask Boston.

D Wade out for the season, is this the next step in the Michael Beasly sweepstakes?
Ah let the conspiracy theories begin. That doesnt seem to be Pat Riley's style the way he ran practice while coaching or the way he structures his teams as GM.

I guess if Marion gets shelved for flu-like symptoms we will know for sure.
Reply:im pretty sure if u are in the top of the lottery u have a really good chance of being the the top 5 picks. so either way with the depth f this draft they are gonna get a future all star. whether it be beasley ( future hall of famer calling it now.) rose, gordon, maybe love or another solid guy coming out of this draft.
Reply:This is the all most likley scenario. They are "playing" to lose and get frist draft pick, no doubt. Beasley, the heavy favored to go first, could be awesome along side Dwayne Wade. Along with marion, they could be next seasons "Big 3" in The Weak East.
Reply:duh!

Cleveland got LBJ

San Antonio got TD

Philly got A.I.

so on and so on...

TANKING THE REST OF THE SEASON!!!!

we'll know for sure when Marion decides to sit out the rest of the year.
Reply:Well yes, yes it is! But he doesn't have to work so hard because MN doesn't want Beasley and we're really Miami's main competition for the 1st. MN is going for D. Rose or that center from USC.

but this is real check not fake one i mean with all real numbers and signature.

So they say i won and bla bla so i am thinking should i cash this check??? or what?

what do u think?

I received a check from Virgin Mobile USA sweepstakes?
I RECEIVED THE CHECK AND LETTER AND DID SOME RESEARCH AND EMAILED THE MEDIA RELATIONS AT VIRGIN MOBILE ABOUT IT. THEY REPLIED "this is not this is not anything that Virgin Mobile USA is running. We'll be in touch with you shortly." and "I can assure you this is a bogus contest and unrelated to Virgin Mobile USA. We are currently investigating the source."
Reply:I also received a notification with the same amount with a real looking check. I deposited, but did not wire money to the "agent" because the check received may be "stopped" and then I would be out a nice chunk of change. I called the company to verify the validity of the results and am now waiting for a call.
Reply:hopefully thats right and genuine ..go ahead
Reply:If you didn't play, have your bank check it out. It's probably fake. Don't send any money to whoever sent it.
Reply:call virgin mobile first
Reply:I received the same check, and when I called the number to the alleged Oprah show summer sweepstakes center the girl told me to deposit the check and wait for it to clear %26amp; then call her back and they would assign me a tax agent(whom I would pay the money to). I told her that I was very skeptical and that I would show this to my attorney for verification before I deposited anything, and she was like that would be fine. Please when someone finds out exactly what this is please advise.
